New thermal insulation solutions from Polyfoam XPS mean specifiers and installers can choose better lambda values for thinner ground floor constructions and flat roof designs.
The improved Floorboard and Roofboard products offer a declared thermal conductivity of 0.031 W/mK (design lambda of 0.032 W/mK for inverted roof applications). With the capability to also produce new board thicknesses, lower U-values can now be achieved with a single layer of insulation.
“Everyone at Polyfoam XPS is delighted that we can now provide projects with 300mm of extruded polystyrene to achieve a 0.10 W/m2K U-value in inverted roofs,” said Phil Hodges, National Sales Manager.
Other common roof U-value targets that can now be met in a single layer include 0.12 W/m2K using 250mm of XPS (subject to the precise nature of the roof build-up).
Critically, these new product developments are backed up by renewed BBA certificates for both flooring and roofing applications.
“Our new products continue to be manufactured to the harmonised European Standard for extruded polystyrene, EN 13164,” explained Rob Firman, Technical and Specification Manager. “Nevertheless, our specifiers and customers expect to see independent third-party verification confirming the lower lambda values we now offer.”
Better thermal conductivity and a greater range of product thicknesses combine with all of the existing benefits of Polyfoam XPS insulation – including robustness, durability and compressive strength options of 300 kPa and 500 kPa – to create versatile thermal solutions that help to deliver the promised levels of performance on site.
