RECERTIFICATION OF POLYFOAM XPS PRODUCTS COMPLETED BY BBA

Ground floor and flat roof insulation products manufactured by Polyfoam XPS have been recertified by the British Board of Agrément (BBA).

The reissued certificates mean the extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation boards have been independently assessed by the BBA against the latest building regulations, and confirmed as still being fit for purpose.

“BBA certificates remain one of the most important information sources for specifiers when selecting construction products,” said Rob Firman, Technical and Specification Manager at Polyfoam XPS.

“Recertification was a collaborative process, and it was a pleasure to work with the BBA to ensure it went as smoothly as possible. Now specifiers can benefit from up-to-date certificates that take into account all of the recent changes to national building regulations.”

It is not only Polyfoam XPS’s product performance that has been assessed as part of recertification. Another element of the BBA’s independent, third-party assessment is checking on the quality management procedures in place at the manufacturing facility.

Rob Firman added: “Not only do our BBA certificates verify the performance claims we make about our products, they’re also a recognition of the hard work at our Hartlepool factory. The ongoing checks on our Quality Management System demonstrate the commitment of everyone at Polyfoam XPS to producing the best insulation products we can.”

The reissued BBA certificates can be downloaded from the technical support section of the Polyfoam XPS website. The page also features a host of other resources and accreditations, including environmental product declarations and BES 6001 responsible sourcing certification.

Polyfoam are always very helpful and provide information very quickly. The product is good and is still covered by a BBA certificate and is suitable for use in below slab ground floors on large buildings so it is perfect for what we need.

With its British Board of Agrement (BBA) certificate I was reassured that Polyfoam insulation had all the right accreditations and could provide sufficient compressive strength to carry the applied loads.

Installing an insulation product that was highly resistant to moisture absorption and could provide a line of defence against moisture penetration from the concrete slab was particularly needed for our project. What’s more, as XPS is a lightweight material it meant that installation was very quick and easy, which resulted in us coming across no problems and keeping on track in order to complete the projects on time.
