POLYFOAM XPS APPOINTS TECHNICAL AND SPECIFICATION MANAGER

A new technical and specification manager, Rob Firman, has joined the Polyfoam XPS team.

The Polyfoam™ XPS insulation manufacturer, based in Hartlepool, has expanded its technical support offering with Rob’s appointment.
Rob has more than a decade of technical specification experience in the construction industry, working in similar roles previously for the likes of PIR insulation manufacturer, Celotex, industrial engineering firm, Permastore Ltd, as well as flat roof waterproofing system manufacturer, Bauder.

At Polyfoam XPS, Rob will work closely with architects, specifiers, contractors and distributors to troubleshoot specification queries. He’ll work as part of the technical support team, offering a quick turnaround service for all customers, whether they require assistance over email, telephone or face-to-face. He will also complete U-Value calculations and condensation risk analysis for projects across the UK.

Rob will also develop technical specification documents, advise specifiers on the correct XPS products suitable for different construction projects, as well as deliver technical training and CPDs.

Speaking about his appointment, Rob said: “This is a fantastic new challenge for me and I am proud to be part of the Polyfoam XPS team. My entire career has revolved around technical specification not only in the insulation sector, but also the wider construction industry. This has given me the appropriate skills and broadened my knowledge to excel in my role as technical and specification manager.

“Polyfoam XPS is a very well-established product within the market and I’m looking forward to working more closely with customers to help them develop sound specifications for a mix of refurbishment and new build projects across the UK.”

Stuart Bell, managing director at Polyfoam XPS, added: “Rob is a real asset to the business and we are delighted to welcome him on board. In the last 12 months, we have really focussed on developing our customer service offering by growing our team and providing that much needed support-line for existing and new clients alike.

“We are extremely proactive as a company and see Rob’s appointment as a way to further open the dialog with specifiers and distributors, ensuring the support and guidance is available to them, whenever they need it. We wish Rob the best of luck in his new role.”

Polyfoam are always very helpful and provide information very quickly. The product is good and is still covered by a BBA certificate and is suitable for use in below slab ground floors on large buildings so it is perfect for what we need.

With its British Board of Agrement (BBA) certificate I was reassured that Polyfoam insulation had all the right accreditations and could provide sufficient compressive strength to carry the applied loads.

Installing an insulation product that was highly resistant to moisture absorption and could provide a line of defence against moisture penetration from the concrete slab was particularly needed for our project. What’s more, as XPS is a lightweight material it meant that installation was very quick and easy, which resulted in us coming across no problems and keeping on track in order to complete the projects on time.
