Overview
A car park deck is essentially a variation on a conventional warm flat roof – but a warm roof where the imposed loads, due to vehicle weights, are significant and therefore require an insulation material capable of bearing them.
Extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation, with its superior load-bearing performance, provides a flat, strong and dimensionally stable base for the deck overlay. A typical car park deck construction sees the insulation layer covered by a separating layer, screed, and mastic asphalt or liquid-applied waterproofing.
